Basionym:
Geonoma acaulis Mart.
Morphology:
Leaf blade wedge shaped, simple, or irregularly divided into a few segments on each side; veins forming an angle of 15-30° with the leaf axis; petiole short. Peduncle 20-60 cm long; spike 15-50 cm long and 5-10 mm in diameter, usually with rather loosely positioned flower pits.
Distribution:
Wetsern Amazon region.
Common throughout E Ecuador on terra firme, often quite abundant.
