Caespitose palm in recently and partly cleared area. Stem to 5 tall, dbh 3.0 cm, with black spines on internodes. With 7 leaves, attached to the stem over a distance of 75 cm; pinnae in one plane, regularly distributed and numbering 2 x 27; leafsheath 47 cm, petiole 11 cm, rachis 108 cm, rachis with flattened yellow spines. Two lowermost leaves each supporting an infructescence with green fruits. Vernacular name: Chibu
