BB 97803 Bactris cf. setulosa Caespitose palm with 2 stems. Collected stem 6 m long, 7- 8 cm in diam; internodes heavily armed with black spines up to 4 cm long. Leaves 6, inserted over 90 cm; sheath 90 cm long, heavily armed with black spines, to 7 cm long; pinnae 46 per side, inserted in groups of 5-4-4-4-3-3-3-4- 5-2-5-4 (counted base to apex), inserted in different angles to the rachis, the apical pinna of each group horizontal, the basal making an angle of 45ยก, basal pinna 44 x 2.4 cm, middle pinna 62 x 8.2 cm, apical pinna 24 x 3 cm. Infructescence 3, interfoliar to infrafoliar; prophyll 21 cm long, 7 cm wide, bicarinate, woody, spineless; bract 48 cm long, 8 cm in diam., covered by black spines, to 2 cm long; peduncle 20 cm long, 2.7 cm in diam., yellow tovards the base, green towards the apex, spineless; rachis 10.5 cm long; rachillae 38, basal rachilla 11 cm long, apical rachilla 10 cm long. Rachis and rachilla green. Fruits green to orange, orange fruits 1.5 cm in diam. N.V. Quchiraba.
