Solitary palm. stem 250 cm long. Dbh. 3.5 cm. Stem brown. Internodes with black spines to 6 cm long. Spines flattened and pointing strait out from the stem. No. of leaves 12 + 1 juvenile. Leaves more or less horizontally out spreading. Leafsheath 26 cm long. Petiole 35.5 cm long. Rachis 135 cm lon. No. of pinnae 2 x 13. Pinnae inserted in groups of two, the basal pinnae of each group having a slightly greater angel than the apical.
