Caespitose palm with 10 stems. Collected stem 470 cm long, dbh. 3 cm; internodes 16 cm long, spiny especially just below the nodes, spines black, slightly flattened, to 4.5 cm long. Leaves 4, inserted over 75 cm; leafsheath 58 cm long; petiole 75 cm long; rachis 154 cm long; pinnae 33 per side, distributed regularly and in one plane. Sterile specimen. N.V. Shibu. Fruits eaten. Stem used as pole while sailing canoe according to Sr. Abra Tanchima from Centro Chapi-Tung (Quichua).
