Solitary palm. Stem 2 m tall, diameter 1 cm, glabrous bamboo-like. Eight leaves, leaf sheath 22 cm, forming a green 16 cm long crownshaft, petiole 27 cm, rachis 63 cm. Infrafoliar inflorescence, erect with rachillae in a straight angel to the rachis. On terra firme. Vernacular name: Sapap (Achuar), – this name also used for several species of Geonoma. Leaves used for thatch.
